Call for Volunteers to Support Families Affected by Terminal Illness
Gunners Kids CIC, a Cornwall-based organisation dedicated to supporting families coping with
a terminal illness, is urgently seeking volunteers to help meet the growing demand for their
services. Officially launched in October 2024, with workshops commencing in February 2025,
the organisation is already seeing a significant increase in the need for its activities and
workshops designed for children and families affected by terminal illness.
In response to this surge in demand, Gunners Kids CIC is looking to expand its team of
volunteers to assist with running activity days, workshops, and a new outreach service currently
in its pilot phase. The outreach service will support families who can no longer travel to attend
workshops or events, ensuring that vital services are still accessible to those in need.
Volunteers will receive full training and will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
The commitment for this role is a minimum of two days per month, offering flexible ways to get
involved and make a meaningful impact. The organisation aims to provide families with
opportunities to create lasting memories with their loved ones, offering a combination of fun
activities, workshops, peer support, and valuable information in a safe, welcoming, and
understanding environment.
